A peculiar bug in iOS 26 is causing certain photos taken on Android phones to appear with an intense red tint when viewed in Apple’s Photos app, according to reports highlighted by 9to5Mac.
The issue has been widely discussed on platforms such as Reddit, where users report that affected images look normal in thumbnail view but suddenly display a dramatic red filter once opened in full view. The glitch appears to affect only photos originally captured on Android devices and later transferred or saved to an iPhone.
At present, the exact cause of the issue remains unclear. However, the problem seems to be isolated to image rendering within the Photos app rather than permanent damage to the files themselves.
Fortunately, the fix is simple. Users can resolve the issue by opening the affected photo, tapping Edit, and then selecting Revert, which removes the red tint and restores the image to its original appearance. No data loss has been reported.
While the bug may look alarming at first glance, it appears to be more of a visual oddity than a serious technical problem. For most users, the impact is minimal—especially since it only affects a subset of Android-originated photos and does not alter the original image files.
Still, iPhone users are advised to correct any affected photos before sharing them, to avoid sending along unintentionally crimson-tinted images.
